Common Law (Reiss Torts Class)

Created by Bradley H. Parker on October 14, 2016 1686

Tort law varies by state.  But there are common doctrines that appear in most, if not all, states.  The following addresses those common law doctrines.

Torts are organized based on how purposeful the injurious action was.

  • Intentional Torts.  Torts in which the party intended the harm.
  • Negligence.  Torts in which the party was not as careful as they should have been.
  • Strict Liability.  Torts in which the intent of the party is not a factor.
