Anti Paparazzi Laws

Anti paparazzi laws in the U.S. are only found in California. There are three different aspects to CA's anti-paparazzi laws (discussed further in the sub-section on CA). First, under the California Vehicle Code, the state allows for longer jail sentences and fines for reckless driving "with the intent to capture any type of visual image, sound recording, or other physical impression of another person for a commercial purpose." In 2013, CA passed a law criminalizing the harassment of children based on their parent's occupation. In 2014, CA passed a law banning the use of drones to take photographs. While this law applies to taking photographs of anyone, it is generally thought of as "anti-paparazzi" legislation as the ones getting their photographs taken via drone in CA were generally celebrities.
